Supervision and Consultation

I provide supervision in a relational psychodynamic model. The goals of this approach are to create a more experiential, participatory, and relationship-focused form of supervision, one that not only provides usable psychotherapeutic knowledge and skills, but also facilitates the emotional and relational development that is essential to becoming an effective psychodynamic psychotherapist.

Fees and Cancellation Policy

$185 for each 50-minute individual psychotherapy telehealth session or consultation/supervision session. All services currently provided through Zoom video conference.

I do not currently accept insurance: I can provide superbills to insurances, as needed. I currently accept credit card payment through Square online, to be paid at each appointment.

If a session is missed, or less than 24 hours notice is provided, the full session fee will be charged.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

About Leah Platoni, LMFT

Therapy has been a profound and important part of my own life, as has been providing quality support to others. I believe, and have experienced, that a great therapeutic match can be healing and life changing. You are entitled to know about my professional background in order to determine whether we might be a good fit for working together.

My clinical foundation is relational psychodynamic therapy, grounded in attachment theory, with a focus on trauma resolution. My approach is also enriched by meditation, mindfulness practices, and my somatic awareness, and influenced by transpersonal counseling and Gestalt trainings. I also incorporate the brain-based intensive trauma treatment Brainspotting into sessions, to aid in identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain and trauma. What this all means is that I pay attention to you on every level- emotionally, mentally, physically, energetically, socioculturally, and spiritually. I can offer short-term solution-focused treatment, or engage in longer-term depth therapy. And, I stay flexible in my approach, integrating various interventions in order to identify and meet your unique needs.

I have developed as a professional by offering: play therapy in school programs with severely traumatized children, wilderness therapy with adjudicated and at-risk youth, ropes challenge course activities and groups with youth at camps, addiction recovery groups for adults, triage and short-term therapy for suicidal and gravely disabled teens at a teen crisis stabilization unit, support groups for severely mentally ill adults in a partial hospitalization program and at a psychiatric hospital, and outpatient therapy sessions at clinics and in the community for children, adults, and families. I currently split my time between my private practice and providing clinical supervision at a local mental health agency for a school-based program. In August 2020, I also completed an advanced training in the relational, psychodynamic approach to supervision at The Psychotherapy Institute in Berkeley. I am passionate about this work and being of service!
